Andrea Putzu
Fermo, August 13, 2025 – His election campaign had virtually never stopped, and today it's official : the Ancona supervisory court has approved the rehabilitation procedure for Andrea Putzu , outgoing councilor for the Brothers of Italy party, who can now run in the September 28th and 29th elections for the council's renewal. The hearing took place last Wednesday, the provision was signed on August 6th, and yesterday it was filed with the registry with the signatures of President Enrica Olivieri and Magistrate Elisa Giaccaglia.
This is a necessary step for Putzu, to overturn the 2018 final sentence that sentenced him to eight months for ideological forgery, following a signature drive for the 2013 elections, authenticated by Putzu, who was a provincial councilor at the time. This matter emerged following a complaint from Saturnino Di Ruscio, who in recent days had identified serious irregularities. Putzu, precisely because of that conviction, would not have been eligible to run in 2020 , pursuant to the Severino law, when he instead won the elections over Di Ruscio, the first of the non-elected. This issue will also be evaluated by the regional council's presidency, as announced at the last session by President Dino Latino, but certainly not before the vote and therefore during the next legislature.
Meanwhile, the necessary rehabilitation process has been successfully completed, and within a few days, Putzu has demonstrated his eligibility for rehabilitation, presenting "effective and consistent evidence of good conduct" more than seven years after his conviction. Di Ruscio, however, believes he has been harmed and is seeking an account of the five years he allegedly served on the council, which he claims were unlawful. During his time, Putzu certified that he had no criminal convictions and continued his work as a regional councilor. It's difficult to understand the implications of a possible ineligibility ruling for the 2020 elections; the issue has not been discussed in the regional council, and politically, it's being postponed until better times.
Meanwhile, justice has taken its course and Putzu has returned to full swing in an electoral campaign that he had never effectively interrupted , supported by the entire centre-right, including the outgoing president Francesco Acquaroli, who has always denied the possibility of doing without one of his strongest and most trusted men.
