Campania Regional Elections: Minister Piantedosi Speaks of Transparency

Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi recently expressed his desire for a peaceful and productive campaign ahead of the regional elections in Campania. During the presentation of the book “80 passi in Rete-Vite oltre gli resistere” in Avellino, Piantedosi highlighted the importance of a narrative that reflects the reality of the last ten years of regional government.

His words raised questions about the transparency and integrity of the electoral process, issues of crucial importance in an increasingly complex political environment.

Distinguishing between narrative and reality

The minister stressed the need to distinguish between political narrative and the reality of the facts, an aspect that is often overlooked in public debate. “We must face the truth of the facts and not be guided by distorted narratives,” Piantedosi said. This statement is particularly relevant at a time when regional elections are characterized by increasing polarization and often misleading communication. The call for an electoral campaign based on concrete and verifiable facts is a call to all candidates to commit to a high standard of integrity.

Fake Lists and Electoral Leave

Another issue addressed by the minister concerns the proliferation of “fake” lists, which have been the subject of debate in recent years. These lists, composed of members of the police force, are used to obtain thirty days of paid electoral leave in municipalities with fewer than five thousand inhabitants, where it is not necessary to collect signatures. Piantedosi announced his intention to present a serious and concrete proposal to change this situation, also involving the Chief of Police. This initiative aims to ensure that the electoral process is fair and transparent, avoiding abuses that could compromise citizens' trust in institutions.
