A rally in a park in the capital Bogota, Senator Miguel Uribe speaks to the crowd surrounding him: he is not yet an official candidate but is aiming for the 2026 presidential elections. Suddenly, gunshots. Amateur videos show the dramatic moment, the bullets fired by someone very close to him hit him in the head, he collapses. In one of the videos, the armed hand of the attacker, immediately stopped by the police. He is very young, only 15 years old. Uribe, 39, is a member of the opposition conservative party. His father is a union leader, his mother is a journalist, kidnapped in 1990 on Pablo Escobar's orders and then killed. Outside the hospital, anger explodes against President Gustavo Petro, who shortly after says: a very serious act whose origin, for now, there are only hypotheses. For decades, Colombia has been hostage to drug castles, the extreme left, and armed groups linked to the right. A few hours after the attack, the announcement: the last operation went well but Uribe is still in critical condition.
