De Luca's new book: "The Challenge: A Third Term, New Masters, Genocidal Wars, and Trumpism"

"The Challenge: Between a Third Term, New Masters, Wars of Genocide and Trumpism," the new book by Vincenzo De Luca, governor of Campania, will be released in bookstores on September 2nd (Piemme, 304 pages, €19.90). De Luca himself announced the news on social media.
The book, as stated on Amazon, which has it available for pre-order, starts from the idea that "we cannot remember a political season so turbulent, so exposed to sudden and unpredictable changes, so tiring and complicated to follow and accompany with reasonably well-founded and sufficiently stable reflections.
For this reason, Vincenzo De Luca, with his consistently brilliant, at times sarcastic, provocative, and direct style, attempts to analyze the difficulties Italian and international politics are experiencing in the face of the major epochal upheavals of recent months. Historical problems are worsening, from bureaucratic morass to impossible reforms (healthcare, taxation), while institutions are losing social roots and operational capacity. And this, in a context where the world is being reduced to a state of nature, abandoning international law and every rule of coexistence, sliding toward dramatic conflicts.
The underlying theme of the entire book—we continue—is the irreversible crisis of liberal democracy, the conviction that the historical era of democracy has reached its end. And that without radical innovation, new expressions of authoritarianism risk prevailing. The spread of Trumpism signals the gravity of this ongoing evolution. The challenge is to clearly grasp the dangers of this phase and implement actions capable of countering and defeating them.
