Defense, Europe's Big 5 Meet in Rome

Today in Rome, at Palazzo Aeronautica, the “Group of 5” is scheduled, a summit of the defense ministers of France, Germany, Italy, Poland and the United Kingdom . "E5 - the ministry recalls on X - is a consultation forum, with an informal character, born in response to contemporary geopolitical challenges to strengthen dialogue, especially in the context of security and defense of the continent".

The initiative represents a significant step towards greater strategic autonomy for Europe in managing its own security issues, while maintaining strong ties with NATO and the European Union . Among the central themes is also coordinated support for Ukraine, at a crucial moment for the stability of the continent.

The Rome meeting is the fourth of the Group after those held in Berlin (25 November 2024), Warsaw (13 January 2025) and Paris (12 March 2025). The meeting includes a press conference at 14:45.
