Exhausted diplomacy: Europe powerless in the face of conflict

European diplomacy has a great tradition but no longer has any power. It has no military deterrence behind it. It has been proceeding for years by apodictic sentences of a legal nature, according to the canon of international law, obliterated in reality by what the Europeans call escalation and try again with pre-political arguments. Now in Geneva the Foreign Ministers of France, Germany and the United Kingdom are trying to insert into Israel's war against Iran , on very fragile bases, a line of understanding for de-escalation that has no relevant basis in the tragic theater of events . Bombs and missiles are raining down. The object of contention has never been so clear. The end of the nuclear program of a terrorist state. Strategic defeat of almost fifty years of nihilistic preaching and action of an Islamist regime that wants to annihilate the so-called Zionist entity and for this reason seeks the atomic bomb and spreads, finances and coordinates allied exterminationist armies. On this, the facts are arranged towards the ultima ratio. European diplomacy tries to evade its substance. It simultaneously arouses the mistrust of Iranians, Americans and Israelis .
To help commendable efforts of pacification, of restraint as they say, European involvement should be significant, pressing, in its own way threatening: this is the leverage, the dissuasive power, of any self-respecting diplomacy. But today, apart from the law and the well-being of international economies put to the test of a conflict that could have serious repercussions, the real weight of which is not seen today, the language of European diplomacy is substantially mute. Being outside of everything or almost does not allow one to enter into a deadly or existential conflict for the subjects involved, also to limit the humanitarian and political damage. Bad business, this of an ancient diplomacy that no longer has effective connections with the real situation on the ground. It forces you to moralize, to make propaganda, to exhausting chatter, to opaque perspectives, to immense wastes of time. One hopes that European diplomacy has hidden cards, the sign or color of which is not yet known, but one doubts it. The devastation of Iran and its transformation into a failed state, modeled on Afghanistan, is in no one's interest. But that this objective can be pursued by European diplomacy is not in anyone's forecast.
