FdI opens a window for abused men and haters attack Democratic Senator Valente

FdI opens a window for abused men and haters attack Democratic Senator Valente

The help desk for abused men opened in the VI district, the only one in the capital with a centre-right leadership, continues to be a topic of discussion. This time with complaints and accusations of “incitement to hatred” directed at the Democratic Party senator Valeria Valente . The former president of the parliamentary commission of inquiry into femicide, as well as any form of gender violence, has in fact harshly criticized the initiative inaugurated in the territory governed by Nicola Franco (FdI).

A helpdesk born from a resolution that talks about both stalking and parental alienation to the detriment of separated fathers whose ex-wives would forbid them from seeing their children. A presumed syndrome that for the international scientific community does not exist and that however is expressly mentioned in the resolution.

The center-right-led VI district is the same one where the majority split over an act that called for more counseling centers and that promoted a signature drive in its institutional offices to force women who want to have an abortion to listen to the beating heart of the fetus and that tried to bring an anti-abortion motion to the council. Of course, an anti-violence center dedicated to women is also due to open soon, but the precedents remain.

Senator Valente, in a post on social media, called the latest development of the help desk for abused men “an attack on women,” especially because “it actually proposes, once again, a mystifying vision of reality, fueling a distorted and false narrative: that there is only neutral violence and that there is no specific and different violence, which is that perpetrated by men against women.” Finally, the Democratic Party representative added, “violence based on the culture of possession and control must be called by its true and only name: male violence against women.”

Critical comments from several men rained down under his post, but above all, the lawyer Angelo Pisani decided to file a complaint with the Naples Prosecutor's Office for "incitement to hatred or discrimination - homophobia, abuse of public office, aggravated defamation against vulnerable individuals and associations", as he himself wrote on social media while spreading the content of the complaint. Pisani is the creator of the project "1523 against violence against men".

Upon hearing the news of the complaint, there was an outcry in her defense: "With an intimidation against Senator Valeria Valente, someone intends to deny what we have learned on our own skin as women and men in these years and that is that male violence against women is not a common violence and that denying its specificity is an attack on everything we have achieved and built, as a society, in these years", commented the members of the Democratic Party group in the parliamentary commission on Femicide and Violence Cecilia D'Elia , Sara Ferrari , Antonella Forattini , Valentina Ghio , Filippo Sensi .

“We are with you Valeria, we are moving forward in our battles to defend women from male violence and you did well to criticize the ridiculous initiative of a help desk for abused men – added the leader of Avs in the Chamber Luana Zanella - The complaint against you is a cowardice that will stop neither you nor any of us".
