Guanzate: The mayor resigns and the prefect appoints a commissioner.

Guanzate, July 18, 2025 – Following the resignation of Mayor Ivano Bernasconi on June 26, today the Prefect of Como, Corrado Conforto Galli, submitted a proposal to the Ministry of the Interior to dissolve the Guanzate City Council.

At the same time, to ensure the normal functioning of municipal activities, pending the dissolution of the council, the suspension of the council itself was ordered, with the appointment of the Prefectural Commissioner , Deputy Vice-Prefect Maria Rosaria D'Acunzo, to ensure the provisional administration of the municipality.

His presence will be guaranteed until the next election, expected to be no earlier than next spring. The mayor's resignation was the culmination of growing tensions with the deputy mayor and a couple of councilors, whose responsibilities Bernasconi had stripped before formally stepping down, citing a lack of trust.
