Iran-Israel, Tajani: "We are working for de-escalation. No to the closure of the port of Hormuz"

"Our position is different from Spain's: for us it is essential to have a dialogue with Israel. Thanks to this dialogue we managed to get almost 1,000 people out of the Strip. We are the only ones who managed to get a UN convoy into Gaza. Having an open dialogue can lead to results, wishful decisions are useless and are perhaps aimed at the internal politics of countries". This was stated by Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani in Brussels. Spain arrived at today's meeting with the position of asking for the agreement with Israel to be stopped and sanctions against it.

" Our position is to move forward with Israel on this front as well . While we do not agree with the choices made in Gaza due to the disproportionate reaction, the excessive use of force, it is clear that we are calling for an immediate ceasefire. We approved the sanctions against the settlers in the West Bank who violated the rules, yes, but ending the relationship with Israel also means preventing many Palestinians from being able to leave Gaza ," Tajani explained.

"I also expressed my concern to Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, the request not to intervene with the closure of Hormuz, which could cause enormous damage to the economy, first and foremost the Iranian one , but also to all other countries, including China." This was stated by Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani on the sidelines of the EU Foreign Affairs Council in Brussels.

"I feel like I have received a lot of attention from the Iranian side on the Italian proposals and suggestions, I have asked for guarantees for our compatriots who are in Iran and those who had to stay, guarantees for the safety of our embassy which is still open unlike other member countries. This is another issue of great importance for us and I have recommended de-escalation, I have found attentive ears". This was stated by the Foreign Minister, Antonio Tajani, on the sidelines of the EU Foreign Affairs Council in Brussels, questioned on the outcome of his talks with his Iranian and Israeli counterparts. "Our orientation is to encourage dialogue, a resumption of dialogue" between Tehran "with the United States in a direct manner", he reiterated.
