Israel-Iran War, Pichetto Fratin: "New intervention for high utility bills? We hope there is no escalation, but the government is ready"

"It is clear that as a government we are paying the utmost attention to what is happening, as every time a war breaks out there is concern". He stated this to Affaritaliani.it the Minister of the Environment and Energy Security Gilberto Pichetto Fratin after the increases in the price of oil (approximately +8%) and gas (approximately +5%) following the new conflict in the Middle East between Israel and Iran.

"Let's not forget that the conflict can also trigger a speculative effect on the markets , as we have already seen in the past. At the moment, an increase of about 8% in oil and about 5% in gas is still limited, but the evaluation must be made at a European level. In Italy there are no quantitative consequences but we clearly suffer the consequences of the increase in international prices of raw materials".

As for a possible new government intervention in the event of a prolonged conflict or escalation and therefore a further increase in the price of raw materials , oil and gas in the lead, which would trigger the problem of high utility bills for Italian families and businesses, Minister Pichetto Fratin states: "We hope that it does not happen and that this scenario is averted, but if it were to happen the government is always attentive and ready to evaluate interventions if and when there is a need ."
