Life annuities, the cuts decided by Fico in 2018 remain in place, the appeal of nearly 800 former parliamentarians rejected.

The Chamber of Appeals confirms the structure of the resolution of 2018, which introduced a cut in the pensions of former parliamentarians. The Chamber of Appeals (which could be described as the Supreme Court of Cassation of Montecitorio) therefore rejected the appeal filed by approximately 800 former parliamentarians , who had sought to eliminate the cut to their pensions, which the Senate had instead ruled in favor of in 2022. The cut had been decided in 2018 under the presidency of Roberto Fico . The decision was announced in a press release from Montecitorio.
The decision was made by the body composed of MPs Ylenja Lucaselli , Ingrid Bisa , Marco Lacarra , Pietro Pittalis , and Vittoria Baldino . The mitigation measures already introduced by the Bureau of the previous Legislature, implementing partial rulings adopted by the supervisory bodies of that Legislature, were also confirmed. The current overall situation regarding the recalculation of pensions and the related mitigation measures therefore remains unchanged.
