Marche, regional elections shaken: center-left candidate Ricci under investigation, Conte calls for clarification.

There's a never-ending short circuit between politics and justice. Just days after a major investigation into Milan's urban planning, with 74 people under investigation, including Mayor Beppe Sala , and six arrest warrants, this time the target is Democratic Party MEP Matteo Ricci .

Former mayor of Pesaro, and a candidate for the center-left in the upcoming regional elections in the Marche region , Ricci posted a video on social media announcing that he had received a notice of investigation as part of the investigation into alleged irregularities in foster care contracts at the Municipality of Pesaro when he was mayor.

“Surprisingly,” Ricci says in the video, “this morning I received a notice of investigation regarding the long-running issue of foster care, the murals, the parties, and Valentino Rossi’s helmet, which has been in the press for a year now.”

The former mayor said he was "surprised," "bitter," but "calm" and " not involved in the events ." "I've never been involved in public procurement; I've always trusted my managers and collaborators blindly," Ricci said in the video.

The prosecutors of the Pesaro Public Prosecutor's Office, however, accuse him, as the Democratic MEP himself reports, of having received not financial benefits but "political consensus".

The investigation against Ricci risks ruining the agreement reached in the Marche region, and in Rome, between Elly Schlein 's Democratic Party and Giuseppe Conte 's 5 Star Movement.

The former prime minister himself explains in a statement that the Movement " reserves the right to thoroughly evaluate the allegations made against Ricci , in order to determine whether he is simply being accused of improper municipal spending or whether there are elements of dishonest conduct that led to undue personal advantages—conduct that would be incompatible with our principles and values." Conte is sending a clear signal, which can be read in the lines of his "politichese": the agreement in the Marche region is at risk, with the possibility that the various agreements on candidates for the regional elections in the "broad field" could ultimately be ruined...
