Margot Friedlaender , a Holocaust survivor and one of the most famous witnesses to the crimes of Nazism and fascism in Germany, has died at the age of 103. She emigrated to New York as a young woman, returned to the Federal Republic as an old woman and worked to keep the memory of the Holocaust alive . Dpa reports on her death, citing the foundation that bears her name. Just yesterday, President Frank-Walter Steinmeier was supposed to have awarded her the Großes Verdienstkreuz, one of the most important awards in the Federal Republic of Germany.
