Meloni's government reaches 1,024 days: a record not to be underestimated.

The government led by Giorgia Meloni has reached a significant milestone: 1,024 days in power. This achievement demonstrates a rare political stability in recent years, in a challenging national and international context, setting a significant record.

Between overtaking and clashes: Meloni's race toward stability

Meloni's tenure is steadily rising: over a month ago, she surpassed Giuseppe Conte, who with his two governments had a combined 988 days, and now she has also surpassed Renzi. Stability has become the guiding principle of Meloni's government , considered essential to ensure continuity in domestic policies and the country's international standing, as well as to advance necessary reforms. At the European level, while Italy has had 17 prime ministers in the last thirty years, Germany and Spain have enjoyed greater political stability, with fewer leaders and longer-lasting governments.

Having reached 1,024 consecutive days in government, the executive led by Giorgia Meloni has surpassed that of Matteo Renzi, thus conquering the fourth place among the longest-serving governments of the Italian Republic.

Since August 12, the Meloni government has been just behind the administrations of Berlusconi II, Berlusconi IV, and Craxi I, respectively the top three in the ranking. The Renzi government, in office from February 22, 2014, to December 12, 2016, lasted 1,024 days, while Craxi I lasted 1,093 days, and Berlusconi IV reached 1,287 days. Berlusconi II remains at the top with 1,412 days in office, from June 2001 to April 2005.

The current prime minister can aim for an even more ambitious goal: completing a full five-year term , an achievement never achieved by a head of government in the history of the Republic. If Meloni manages to maintain her leadership until September 2026, she could equal the record of the second Berlusconi government, thus becoming one of the longest-serving Italian governments ever.
