Meloni from the White House: "The solution isn't easy for Kyiv; we'll start with the Italian proposal."

The prime minister's press briefing before her meeting with Trump and Zelensky: "Western unity is the tool we have to build peace and ensure justice."
"This day is important after three and a half years in which Russia gave no sign of dialogue and demanded Kyiv's capitulation. Today, finally, some glimmers of hope for dialogue are appearing because there is a stalemate on the ground, clearly built by the courage of the Ukrainians, but also by the united support that the West has guaranteed the attacked nation in recent years. Western unity is also the tool we have to build peace and ensure justice ," said Giorgia Meloni . The Prime Minister held a brief press briefing from the White House before today's meeting with US President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky . "Of course, Italy is there, as it has always been in these three and a half years. We stand alongside Ukraine and support the peace efforts of the President of the United States . We were invited to contribute our diplomatic proposals, and we are pleased that the security guarantees are starting from an Italian proposal, which is to build effective security guarantees inspired by Article 5 of the Washington Treaty ," which created NATO in 1949. "Clearly, we still need to build on this. Clearly, there are no easy solutions when it comes to stopping a war and building peace . I think we must explore all possible solutions to guarantee peace, justice, and the security of our nations. Italy contributes all the ideas and proposals it has already demonstrated it can provide in recent months."
Along with Trump, Zelensky, and the Prime Minister, European leaders – Ursula von der Leyen, Emmanuel Macron, Keir Starmer, Alexander Stubb, Friedrich Merz – and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte are also present at the White House.
