Merano, Zeller beats Dal Medico: 57.4% of the votes against the 42.6% of the outgoing mayor

A woman for the first time at the helm of the municipality of Merano.
Katharina Zeller, 38, after a term as deputy mayor, beat the outgoing mayor Dario Dal Medico with 57.4% of the votes, who did not go beyond 42.6%.
Katharina, daughter of former SVP senator Karl Zeller, had obtained the support, even without formal affiliation, of a significant segment of the centre-left after the first round.
For Dal Medico, a moderate candidate, the support of three civic lists was not enough. For the runoff, Fratelli d'Italia and Lega had left their voters free to vote.
