Photovoltaic, grid connection times up to 3 years long

"After the probable blow to the regional law on renewable energy from the ruling of the Lazio Regional Administrative Court on the decree on "Suitable Areas", another sword of Damocles hangs over the region, namely the saturation of the network in absorbing greater quantities of energy. This leads to a slowdown in authorizations for the connections of photovoltaic systems to the network that even reach between 600 and 800 working days. It remains to be seen whether there is a dialogue between the Region and the network manager to address this situation and how long it will take to reach a network capacity that can absorb the production of the systems under approval". This is stated by regional councilor Francesco Martines (PD) who, through a question, poses to the Council the question of the capacity of the national electricity network to absorb energy produced by photovoltaic systems.
«The provision by the Region of economic support to private individuals and businesses for the installation of photovoltaic systems for the production of electricity clashes with the fact that, as can be learned from the e-distribuzione website, some primary AT/MT cabins (Manzano, Palmanova, Codroipo, Stradalta, San Quirino) present a complete level of saturation and others present a level of saturation "for which the inversion of the energy flow is evident with a maximum power input to the national transmission network exceeding the warning limit". In essence, the network is not able to absorb the overproduction of energy produced by large-scale photovoltaic systems, therefore those built by companies in the sector» Martines says. «Of the total requests made to the Region – he continues – a good 83 percent concern the Bassa Friulana, so if there is a slowdown it certainly can only provide at least some relief, also because in the future other alternative sources for producing renewable energy could be found. But in light of this – he concludes – it is good that the Region clarifies whether it has any idea on how to address this further issue".
