RaiSport reiterates its no-confidence vote in Petrecca: threat of strike at the first match of Serie A

The vote of no confidence in the director of RaiSport Paolo Petrecca was reiterated. It is in fact the fourth in three and a half months. With 47 votes in favor and one against, the assembly of the sports editorial team proclaims a state of agitation and entrusts the editorial team with a package of three days of strike. The threat is that the strike will take place during the first match of the football championship at the end of August.

"In the aftermath of the double failure to approve the editorial plan, the editorial staff of RaiSport, Rome and Milan united, reiterates its lack of confidence", reads the press release from the editorial assembly which accuses the Melonian director transferred last March from RaiNews24 precisely following a motion of "disapproval".

The lack of harmony is total. The accusation is the unfulfilled promise "of spaces, promotions and programs without an overall vision and agreement with the company in terms of schedule, organizational chart and budget".

“In the year of the Winter Olympics in Milan Cortina and the World Cup,” the press release continues, “the majority of the editorial staff feels the responsibility to ask the company’s top management for an immediate change of direction to avoid compromising two strategic events for Rai as a whole.”

Furthermore, "the editorial staff lives in a climate of heavy intimidation, reiterated by the director himself in the discussion of the second editorial plan, in which he repeatedly made it clear that anyone who is not with him is against him and that even in the event of a vote of no confidence, he would continue on the strength of the company's consensus".

The passage regarding the treatment reserved for working women and mothers is very harsh.

"In this regard, we ask the company itself what it thinks of the treatment reserved for women and working mothers at Rai, considering the director's request - again during the discussion of the second editorial plan - to rely entirely on its decisions without thinking - verbatim - about the fact that children must be picked up from school at a certain time. Is this a sentence in line with the path of valorization of women and promotion of gender equality in which Rai is committed, also considering the service contract? We also look with great concern at the image of women that the management of RaiSport has decided to provide, not valorizing - especially in the female sphere - internal resources and professionalism and hiring external figures (at what price then?) to co-host key programs for the news outlet. Talents are one thing, showgirls are another and the season of showgirls has passed without regrets".
