Vannacci, Sardone and now Mussolini: Salvini has completed the transformation of what was the federalist party of the Senatur into an attacking sovereignist formation. But for Forza Italia members "it is a mistake to wink at the extreme right, a sense of responsibility is needed"

On the same topic:

With the arrival of Alessandra Mussolini in the League, Matteo Salvini has managed to hit the jackpot (from his point of view, which is not exactly the same as that of many historical members of the League), definitively changing the features of the former Carroccio. Net of the charade in the Council of Ministers for the stop to Fugatti's third term (but that's what we're talking about, we'll see), the Captain has completed the transformation of what was the federalist party of the Senator into an attacking sovereignist formation, placing at the top of the party, as federal vice-secretaries, two profiles culturally foreign to the former League, such as Generalissimo Roberto "Decima" Vannacci and Silvia Sardone , terror of migrants, former Forza Italia member, struck by sovereignism on the way to Brussels .

In order to avoid misinterpretations, the attack trio also joined the charade (200 people) of the Remigration Summit in Gallarate, which kept more than one prefect awake at night, and even Alessandro Gassmann and Sandrone Dazieri. But Alessandro Sorte , Forza Italia's Lombard coordinator – breaking the traditional gentlemen's agreement with his allies – didn't mince his words: "It's a mistake to wink at the far right, because the far right wants to destroy Europe" . And again: "We will never make agreements with the European far right that organizes this type of initiative. The theses supported at the event are horrifying".

Forza Italia MEP Massimiliano Salini , who has been a member of the European Parliament since 2014, tries to get to the heart of the matter: “In politics, it is difficult to separate particular choices from the more comprehensive horizon. The EPP governs everywhere in Europe, while the extreme right governs nowhere, except in Italy through the coalition of which FI is also a part”. But the simplistic propaganda of social media “risks weakening the majority, we need to work on a centre-right that is increasingly modern, more responsible, less and less fond of small battles. We need a sense of responsibility” , he explains. And then a thrust: “I was surprised that exponents of the Italian right are chasing political messages that are incompatible with the work we are doing within the Italian government. Out of place asymmetries, a luxury we cannot afford”.

To those who claim that the League of Territories has nothing to do with sovereignism or post-fascism, because it is something else, Salini responds: “I don’t want to go too much into the merits of a political force that is not mine, but all those who are indicated as the Northern League, starting with the regional presidents, where have they ended up? It’s been said all their lives: there is a Salvini League and then another, the more moderate one . But every time it is Salvini, the democratically elected secretary, who sets the line. You may like his choices or not, but after he appointed vice-presidents who are consistent with his message, what did the ‘others’ say? They are there in the party’s governing bodies. Those who should express a possible counterpoint to these dynamics have decided that it’s fine like this, the League is that one. We no longer say that the League is a force with different characteristics within it because in the final reckoning what we have seen happens”, concludes Salini. There are many within Forza Italia who are looking with interest at the internal polarization within the majority, "I think that from Forza Italia to the PD there is a political space to develop, starting from the 2 million votes that the Third Pole got in the last elections and therefore I say: we do not need to compete with the right-wing electorate, to be right-wing the Brothers of Italy and Salvini are enough. We must do something else also because there is no lack of political space . The French left with Schlein leaves us open prairies, the Third Pole has failed and Forza Italia has a political space that can grow ".

In fact, a PD that marginalizes the reformist area blows moderate winds in Forza Italia's sails. And the changes of allegiance are a warning bell for the left. Giuseppe Licata, regional councilor of Italia Viva, has entered the regional group of FI, before him the coordinator of Italia Viva, Filippo Campiotti, arrived, the same thing in the smaller centers, in Rozzano and then in Bergamo. The party founded by Silvio Berlusconi has also recovered highly respected personalities such as Letizia Moratti and Gabriele Albertini. "And then there is the third pole basin that is worth 10 percent. That's where we look", concludes Sorte .
