The President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, recently highlighted the importance of work as a fundamental pillar of Italian society. During the Opening Ceremony of the Academic Year of the United Nations International Training Centre (Itcilo) in Turin, he stated that “there can be no lasting peace without fair wages, without social protection and without respect for trade union freedoms”.
