The Jewish community mobilizes for Pride 2025 with great enthusiasm

The participation of the Jewish community in this year's Pride marks a significant turning point. After years of false reports about Israel's support for this event, the truth emerges forcefully. "The flag with the Star of David is a religious and identity symbol of the Jewish world," said Mario Colamarino, spokesperson for Roma Pride 2025.

This year, some members of the Jewish community have already communicated their intention to participate, with a delegation of European LGBT+ Jews ready to make their voices heard.

Colamarino clarified that there had been no formal contact with the Israeli embassy regarding Pride, but stressed the importance of representation. “Jews should not be afraid to take to the streets for Pride,” he exclaimed, highlighting the need for greater visibility and inclusion. This year, in addition to the Jewish community, pro-Palestinian movements are also expected at Pride, creating an atmosphere of diversity and inclusion. Colamarino added: “We will definitely see Palestinian flags flying, like last year. Even if we don’t know who exactly will be there, the message of solidarity will be strong.” A sign of openness and acceptance, but also of complexity, in a time of global tensions.

The spokesperson for Roma Pride also expressed concern about the current situation in Gaza, calling it a “real massacre.” “We all need to reflect on what is happening in the Middle East,” he reiterated, stressing the importance of not turning away from ongoing conflicts. Participation in events like Pride therefore becomes a way to raise one’s voice against injustice, showing solidarity with all oppressed communities.
