The pension cuts remain, with the appeal of 800 former MPs rejected.

Former parliamentarians who appealed to the Chamber of Deputies for the reinstatement of their pensions will have to accept it. Lifetime benefits for those who served in Parliament will not be restored. This decision was made by the Chamber of Deputies' appeals panel, after examining the appeals filed by around a thousand former parliamentarians seeking the reinstatement of their privileges.
The decision was made by the body composed of MPs Ylenja Lucaselli , Ingrid Bisa , Marco Lacarra , Pietro Pittalis , and Vittoria Baldino . The mitigation measures—specific situations related to individual cases—already introduced by the Bureau of the previous legislature were also confirmed.
Giuseppe Conte was delighted, calling it "an important result in a historic battle for the Five Star Movement." The Five Star Movement leader attacked former MPs who "wanted to get their pensions back. We were present in the Montecitorio appeals panel and rejected their request: this demonstrates the validity of the battle, on an ethical, moral, and also legal level." Among the former MPs who had filed an appeal was former parliamentarian Ilona Staller , the porn star known as Cicciolina, who was elected on the Radical Party ticket in 1987 and held office until 1992.
Through his lawyer, Luca Di Carlo , he announced that he had filed a request for ten million euros in damages with the Chamber of Deputies, "for violation of the protection of trust," adding that if reimbursed, the funds would be donated to charity. But, at least for now, Staller and his colleagues will have to wait.
