Tuscany regional elections: the official decree has been released: voting will take place on October 12th and 13th.

President Eugenio Giani today signed the decree calling regional elections. The elections will be held on October 12 and 13, 2025.
Florence, August 12, 2025 – Sixty days , precisely, of election campaigning under the umbrella, forty-five days of electoral rallies and lists to be submitted no later than September 12. The die is cast: this afternoon, outgoing governor Eugenio Giani signed the decree calling the regional council elections, according to the powers granted by law to regional presidents.
Voting will take place on Sunday, October 12th and Monday, October 13th , with a possible second round of runoffs two weeks later, on the 26th and 27th. Therefore, there will be no single election day for Tuscany, Marche, Campania, and Veneto. "It's the right time," Giani said in the hours before the signature ceremony. Now, for political parties outside the regional council, the signature collection campaign is underway against the clock.
Center-leftIn Tuscany, the field will be broad. The center-left will present itself to voters in a historically red region with a much broader coalition than in the 2020 election, led primarily by the Democratic Party (PD)-Italia Viva coalition. Meanwhile, Elly Schlein has arrived at the Nazareno district, championing a "stubbornly united" progressive renewal. The natural consequence has been the search for a triumvirate, whatever the cost, of (her) Democratic Party (PD) with the Five Star Movement (M5S) and the Green Left Alliance (Alliance Verdi Sinistra). With great difficulty, and only through an online consultation, the base of members loyal to Giuseppe Conte have confirmed in writing their willingness to run arm in arm with the Democrats. Immediately before that, the Democratic Party leadership approved the Giani II mandate , after weeks of tension (and negotiations) with the Rome secretariat. Now, for the Tuscan Democratic Party, the delicate issue of the list's composition opens, to be decided upon in accordance with the Regulations, approved at the last meeting. Dangers are brewing between the reformist and Schleinian base, due to the issue of exemptions for regional councilors with caps and two Council terms on their resumes. Alongside the PD-5S-AVS coalition, there will be a reformist civic list, without symbols but with five legs: Italia Viva, Azione, +Europa, PSI, and Repubblicani.
Center-rightA candidate is still missing. But we're just waiting for the official announcement: the mayor of Pistoia, Alessandro Tomasi, from the Brothers of Italy party, will challenge Giani. A moderate and pragmatic administrator, he has held Pistoia, a traditionally left-leaning capital, securely for two terms. This is also thanks to a strong civic component within his political platform. Tomasi would like to replicate the same pattern for this match. So far, polls show, it's difficult. Giani boasts a consolidated trend that sees him win in the first round. But the Brothers of Italy, the League, and Forza Italia are confident in his chances. Two civic lists will loosen the coalition that has been united since 1994. One is expected to be called "It's time - Civic List for Tomasi President," plus the "We Moderates" list, fronted by MP Alessandro Colucci.
