Anna Scavuzzo, Deputy Mayor of Milan
Milan, 22 July 2025 – Deputy Mayor for two terms , already on the benches of Palazzo Marino with the election of Giuliano Pisapia in 2011, Beppe Sala has chosen a very loyal supporter by entrusting the Urban Planning delegation to Anna Scavuzzo , while waiting to identify the successor to the resigning councillor Giancarlo Tancredi .
Born in 1976, she grew up between Lambrate and Via Padova . She graduated in Philosophy from the University of Milan and has worked in education and as a teacher in primary and secondary schools. It's no coincidence that she is the Councilor for Education, as well as Agriculture and Major Events. Now, she has also been appointed interim City Planning Officer.
From 2011 to 2016, she was a city councilor , elected on Giuliano Pisapia's civic list , and then also on the metropolitan city council, with responsibility for the Environment and the Southern Park. In 2016, she was elected again, this time on the Democratic Party ticket, and joined the Sala government as deputy mayor and councilor for Education and then for Security, with responsibility for Food Policy. The mayor then confirmed her as his deputy during her second term, with the 2021 elections.
Among her most significant experiences outside of politics, Scavuzzo particularly credits being a scout. "Scouting," she writes on her personal website, "took me to the woods and mountains, to learn to fend for myself and collaborate with others, but also around the city, particularly around Via Padova, where needs and marginalization were rife. Then it took me to Bosnia-Herzegovina , a 'rough' land, to experience firsthand the most extreme consequences of our contradictions."
