Treviso, July 5, 2025 – The Veneto center-right is preparing for an electoral campaign that is yet to be written, but the first move could come from Luca Zaia . The president of the Region is reportedly considering with determination the idea of ​​relaunching the “ Zaia List ”, the civic list that was already the absolute protagonist of the Regional elections in 2015 and 2020.

Not a party list, but a personal formation, to be led personally in all the provinces of Veneto "so as not to lose an important electoral capital".

A move that shakes the internal balance of the coalition: on the one hand, it would give impetus to the campaign and offer a container for many candidates linked to the territory; on the other, it risks creating strong tensions with the allies , starting with Fratelli d'Italia and Forza Italia , opposed to the idea of ​​a personal civic list for an outgoing president.

The strategy for the Regionals would be similar to the one already adopted in 2020, when the “Zaia List” obtained 44.5% of the preferences, contributing decisively to the 76.7% of the entire coalition. But today the context is different: Zaia cannot run again for the presidency and Fratelli d’Italia claims a leading role in the choice of the candidate and the lists.

The governor's possible entry into the field - not as the leader of the League, but of his civic list - is seen by many as a way to maintain control of personal consensus , avoid the electoral pull going to the national party and, at the same time, offer space to a Veneto team with a strong identity.

Behind the scenes, the game is also internal to the League. Relations between Zaia and secretary Matteo Salvini have been tense for some time, due to the unwelcome management by the Venetian president on the issue of the change to the limit of mandates.

The “Zia List”, in this sense, could represent a form of internal counter-power: strengthening the territorial component and putting the official symbol of the Carroccio in difficulty. The governor reflects: not only to influence the regional vote, but perhaps also to look beyond, to a leading role at a national level or in the leadership of large public entities such as Eni or Leonardo.

Meanwhile, the Venetian League continues to define its electoral path. The goal is to build a six-party coalition : League, Brothers of Italy, Forza Italia, Noi Moderati, UDC and the presidential candidate's list.

At the moment, however, there is no trace of the Zaia List within this scheme. But the scenario could change.

Today, in Treviso, an operational meeting was held with over 400 mayors and local administrators. Present, among others, were the mayor of Treviso and president of Anci Veneto Mario Conte , the head of local authorities Alessandro Montagnoli and the regional secretary of the League Alberto Stefani. Objective: to collect territorial requests and begin to outline the program for Veneto 2025-2030.

"We are a team that has been able to administer well – explained Montagnoli – and this puts us in a position to express the candidate for the presidency of the Region".

Secretary Stefani opened the convention by immediately clarifying that "we are not against anyone in the sense that we are open to a coalition as I have always supported, a government coalition at a national level, at a regional level, at a local level, but it is also true that the League at a territorial level has a very important ruling class and we cannot avoid building an electoral program that starts from local communities".

But from the party base came the request to "run alone" with a name that must necessarily pass through the party's governing bodies.

"It is right that the base discusses, compares and takes all the positions it wants because it is right that it should be this way. We are a very democratic party, very open to discussion and obviously we will take their proposals, their reports to heart. Then it is clear that we are in a government coalition at a national level, at a regional level and we want to work in continuity " - Stefani clarified.
