An adopted Varese native takes charge of the national team. Francesco Cattaneo , technical director of Insubria Volley Mornago , has been chosen as head coach of the Italian Men's Deaf National Team that will participate in the Tokyo 2025 Deaflympics , one of the most prestigious events in world Paralympic sport.

Originally from Tuscany but a resident of Varese for over twenty years, Cattaneo brings a wealth of experience that has made him a key figure in the Italian volleyball scene. In addition to his role at Insubria, the coach works as a consultant with several national and international teams , including Volley Lugano , building on a career that has seen him work on multiple fronts of the volleyball movement.

The announcement was made on Insubria Volley's social media accounts , and the call-up represents "a source of pride for Varese and for the entire sports movement in the area" as the post on Instagram explains.
