Virtua Fighter 5 Announced for Switch 2, PS5, and Xbox Series

The famous fighting game from SEGA is preparing to land on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2 with cross-platform functionality, netcode rollback and new content, offering a renewed and accessible experience to a new generation of players.

Sega and Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio have officially announced the arrival of Virtua Fighter 5 REVO on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2. The new version of the famous fighting game will feature cross-platform functionality and netcode rollback, ensuring a stable and responsive multiplayer experience on all platforms. The release date has not yet been announced. The title was initially released for PC via Steam on January 28, garnering appreciation from the community. Following numerous requests received through official channels, including the Virtua Fighter series Discord server, the development team has decided to extend the game's availability to the main next-gen consoles.

During the “Virtua Fighter Direct 2025 Spring” event, the project’s long-time producer, Seiji Aoki, confirmed the intention to offer a gaming experience accessible to users of all platforms. The introduction of cross-play will be accompanied by the integration of the rollback netcode, already used in the Steam version, in order to guarantee optimized and uniform online performances. Furthermore, it was anticipated that the multiplatform edition of Virtua Fighter 5 REVO will include additional content compared to the original version, with the aim of offering much more than a simple conversion. Further details will be released in the next official updates.
