Ballon d'Or: Ousmane Dembélé is the best player in the world.

Ballon d'Or: Ousmane Dembélé is the best player in the world.

Ousmane Dembélé is the sixth French footballer in history to win the Ballon d'Or, following Raymond Kopa (1958), Michel Platini (1983, 1984, 1985), Jean-Pierre Papin (1991), Zinédine Zidane (1998), and Karim Benzema (2022). France thus becomes the nation with the most different players to have won this award, surpassing Italy and Germany, who both have won five.

Scorer of 35 goals and 16 assists in 53 games in all competitions, Dembélé, the top scorer in Ligue 1 (21 goals), also made his voice heard in the Champions League, with eight goals and six assists, two of which in the 5-0 final against Inter on May 31.

Barcelona star Aitana Bonmati has won the Women's Ballon d'Or for the third consecutive time. Last season, the Spaniard, born in 1998, won the La Liga title with the Blaugrana. She and her national team also lost to England in the European Championship final.
