A day of celebration, a new space to experience together, a new service : the internal library was inaugurated at the Sant'Andrea RSA in Cassano Magnago , a project promoted by operators and guests and which we talked about a few weeks ago .
The inauguration was held on Wednesday 21 May: a day enriched by the presence of some representatives of the Proges Cooperative, the mayor and the municipal administration, the priests of the Pastoral Community , volunteers, relatives and friends, together with the guests who were protagonists of this project and who reside in our facility.
"Reading is a magical world, it allows you to travel with your imagination and is a source of stimuli," said the mayor in his inaugural speech, which accompanied the ribbon-cutting. Claudio, a guest of the Rsa S'Andrea, as well as vice president of the library group, together with Luca, an educator, explained how the project was born, how it is developing and the plans for the future: « Every part of this project is shared all together on Thursdays when we meet here in the library. Ideas, proposals, organizational aspects and otherwise, are always approved by each person who is part of this group. And then reading is always the protagonist of these meetings» said Luca and Claudio.
Words of affection and esteem crowned this moment from Angela Robbe , Regional Manager of Proges, who supported this project by representing the Cooperative and demonstrating important support . The morning continued chatting with the guests, sipping a coffee and eating some biscuits, visiting the library and listening to the music of the accordionist Giordano .
“The company and active collaboration of the volunteers of the AVO Association, a living presence in our Nursing Home, has enhanced the presence of a serene and joyful climate”.
The afternoon continued in the hall of our facility with the presentation of the book by Sveva Casati Modignani, Il mercante dei sogni. Giovanna, Graziella and Claudio, guests of the RSA, led by Professor Rita Guarini and with the help of Luca, talked about this book read together, underlining the parts that particularly struck them. Much emotion accompanied this moment interspersed with the music of Francesca, a student of the Liceo Musicale V. Bellini, who cheered our afternoon with her pianola and her voice. The day ended with the cutting of the cake and a toast all together: guests, relatives and friends who came, intrigued by this initiative. At the end of this day, the guests, the operators and the volunteers were able to reap the fruits of all their work. An important thing, Luca underlines, we managed to reach people's hearts by sharing the love and commitment of these months. And that's exactly how it is, the guests being protagonists, the words said, the moments shared, have struck people and this was the most important thing.
And now? "Let's move forward, we still have many books to catalog" says Claudio and there are many ideas that Luca has shared. Some contacts have already been made with writers in the area to be able to present to guests, relatives and friends some written books that will be read and commented by the guests of Sant'Andrea. "Thank you all for being part of this day, for sharing these moments and for bringing home in your hearts a little piece of this project. We are grateful to all of you for this immense joy".
