Farewell to Edo Fiammotto, protagonist of the Ischia “signed” by Goveani

“I have no words. He was much more than a brother,” Goveani commented after Fiammotto’s passing. The lifelong friend, the collaborator, the advisor, the confidant, for years the trusted man of the former president of Torino. Massimo Fiammotto represented a point of reference for Goveani also in the football field.

Football, in addition to politics and social commitment, was one of Fiammotto's great passions, who supported Goveani in his experiences in Calangianus, Capri, Ischia and Nuoro, those that gave the Turin professional the most satisfaction, followed by Fiammotto in Sardinia, his second home. Satisfaction because even if his Ischia 2003-04 team did not win the Eccellenza championship, it took home the regional Italian Cup and recorded the largest exodus of fans on the mainland. Edoardo Massimo Fiammotto had an emotional bond with the island, being related to the Patalano family of Lacco. “Pallonari” par excellence, true symbols of football in the shadow of the Fungo. Even though he was far from the island, his blitzes were often memorable. “When you see him dressed in dark clothes, with a jacket, shirt and even a black tie, some important decision is about to be communicated,” Goveani recalled jokingly, but not too much. It was the truth. The sports director and coach know something about it.
