Festivals, activities, ad hoc programs: when the mountain is family-friendly

The summer on the Paganella Plateau opens with an event dedicated to families: the “Family Festival” has a tried and tested formula that attracts adults and children every year to adventure and nature. This year it will take place from 15 to 22 June with many activity proposals and many special offers on stays in Family Hotels. Games in nature, workshops, shows and outdoor sports are part of a rich program that pleases everyone. For animal lovers there are many opportunities to discover up close the different species that populate the area, from educational farms to the wildlife park. For the more curious, on 17 June the offer is enriched with a visit to the Molveno fish breeding center: here you can discover up close the Alpine char and the lake trout, native species that populate the lake. On 18 June it is the turn of “Mega Bugs: the forest of giant insects”, a new trail immersed in nature. For those who love adventures, there are many Baby Parks with suspended paths, ziplines, inflatable games, rafts. And then trekking, adventures in the water without forgetting the educational workshops: the festival, in fact, also offers a rich calendar of creative activities to stimulate ingenuity and personal talent, always maintaining the connection with nature.
Many outdoor, adventurous and educational activities are also planned in the beautiful area of the Pale di San Martino: from 23 June to 5 September the “Dolomiti Family Fun” project offers families ad hoc accommodation in the Family hotels of San Martino di Castrozza and a rich program dedicated to children from 4 to 12 years: the little guests will have three days in the company of entertainers with whom they can explore, play and have fun. This summer the new “Dolomiti Family Adventures” program is added with the possibility of organizing your own tailor-made vacation. Among the summer events dedicated to families and children is the “Mai Festival (Music Academy International): concerts, operas, theater performances starting from 26 June.
From the Aosta Valley come many ideas and proposals that combine adventure and culture, gastronomy and relaxation, such as the one that invites families to cover the villages of the valley with an ad hoc package, “Andar per borghi”, which reserves nice surprises. Also in the valley, under the peaks of Monte Rosa, starting from July the “Gressoney Kids Week” returns, a high-altitude school camp for children aged 5 to 8, to discover the mountains. The program includes orientation games, visits to local mountain pastures, nature excursions, group activities and environmental education.
In La Thuile, among the many activities offered for children, you can choose a horseback ride: it is organized by the LTHorses equestrian center, located at 1450 meters above sea level.
Across the Alps, among the opportunities for families, you can seize those offered by the various areas of Carinthia, in the south of Austria: in the tourist area of Villach, Lake Faak, Lake Ossiach there are many offers and packages.
Still in Austria, but in Ostirol, you can follow the Golzentipp children's trail in Obertilliach: it is suitable for strollers and has 13 stations that lead to the summit cross of the Golzentipp.
An opportunity to go up in altitude with a special offer also comes from Engadine: for groups of friends or families (from 5 people onwards) the Diavolezza cable car offers discounted tickets to reach 2978 metres above sea level. Once at the top you can do various things: from a simple trip to admire the panorama to the “Glacier Experience Trail” excursion to better understand the changes of the glaciers to the via ferrata Piz Trovat.
