The Passatore is back
Florence, May 23, 2024 – Tomorrow, Saturday, May 24, the “Cento cicli del Passatore” returns, the ultramarathon with the greatest tradition and international prestige, which this year reaches its 50th edition. To allow the competition to take place, which winds along the Florence-Faenza route, the mobility offices have prepared a series of measures within the municipal territory. It starts with the parking bans, in force from 3:00 tomorrow, in via del Fosso Macinante.
From 2:30 pm (to 5 pm) it will be the turn of temporary transit bans to allow athletes to pass through Piazza Duomo-Piazza San Giovanni-Piazza Duomo-Via dei Servi-Piazza Santissima Annunziata-Via Gino Capponi-Piazza Del Lungo-crossing Viale Matteotti-Via Beniveni-Piazza Savonarola-Via Fra' Buonvicini-Via Masaccio-Via degli Artisti-Piazza Vasari-Via Pacinotti-Viale Volta-Piazza Edison-Via di San Domenico-Via David Sassoli up to the municipal border in the direction of Fiesole. A transit ban is also planned in Via Dogali at the intersection with Viale Volta. For public transport diversions, info on www.at-bus.it.
The race starts from Piazza Duomo . The first athlete to cross the finish line in the evening, but the arrivals will follow all night. There are 3,500 registered. Among them, over a hundred come from 38 foreign nations. Among those who will participate in the 100 km del Passatore are David Colgan, Manuel Duarte Oliveira and Luigi Pecora. At the women's level, Federica Moroni will try to defend the crown after the success of 2024.
On the occasion of the Cento cicli del Passatore, it is stated in a note, the Gran premio della montagna will also be awarded. The first man to pass over the Colla di Casaglia pass (913 meters above sea level, at the 48th km) will receive the award named after Francesco Calderoni while the first woman will receive the one dedicated to Angela Bettoli.
