The world of football is in mourning. Frank Mill , a 1990 World Cup winner with Germany, has died. He was 67. The former Borussia Dortmund and Fortuna Dusserdolf striker died of a heart attack. At the end of May, he had already suffered a similar illness after arriving at Malpensa Airport for a documentary on Italia 90. On that occasion, emergency workers, arriving by helicopter, managed to revive him after several minutes of unconsciousness. He had recently been treated in Essen.

Mill began his career in 1981 in his hometown of Essen with Rot-Weiss, spending five years at Borussia Mönchengladbach from 1981 to 1986, eight at Borussia Dortmund until 1994, before concluding his career with two seasons at Fortuna Düsseldorf. He scored 123 goals in 387 Bundesliga matches and won the German Cup with Dortmund in 1989. He earned 17 caps for the national team and was part of the team that, under Franz Beckenbauer, won the 1990 World Cup in Italy, though he never actually played.
