August football brings us "joint training sessions," and after beating Civitanovese in the "Tomassini" memorial, yesterday afternoon Fossombrone Calcio visited Pergolese, beating them 1-0 with a goal scored by Pagliari from the penalty spot nine minutes from time.
Giuliodori's Fossombrone team got off to a better start with a cross from the right by Ghinelli, but Agogo couldn't connect with the ball to put it in the net. In the 30th minute, Giometti headed the ball over the crossbar following a corner. In the 40th minute, Bucchi was one-on-one with Aluigi, who managed to avoid being outplayed and keep his goal intact.
In the second half, Procacci, who had just come on, tested Aluigi with a free kick. In the 24th minute, the Pergolese defense was hesitant, with Savelli managing to clear the ball off the line. In the 34th minute, Marinelli lost the ball in midfield, and Fossombrone counterattacked. Borchia, alone in front of Masci, sent the ball blatantly wide. Two minutes later, Pagliari was brought down by Loppi in the penalty area: the penalty decided the match. Pagliari converted, giving the lead a hold that lasted until the end, although with five minutes remaining, Fraternali almost equalized with a header, but the ball was deflected out for a corner by a visiting defender.
Fossombrone won 1-0, but regardless of the result, the Metauro team will have to work hard to find the right attacking talent. Pergolese has shown some good results, with some interesting young players like Loppi. Last night, the first team and junior team presentations took place in Piazza Ginevri in Pergola, attended by Mayor Sabatucci and the City Council members, amid a positive atmosphere and with the fans in attendance.
