Genoa-Lecce 0-0: Stanciu tries to light up the atmosphere, but there's little excitement at Marassi.

Genoa and Lecce 's first league match at the Marassi Stadium ended 0-0 in front of over 32,000 spectators. The two teams failed to strike, resulting in a game with little excitement.
The Genoa and Lecce lineupsVieira confirmed the starting eleven seen in the Coppa Italia, with Colombo as the main striker. Di Francesco responded with Camarda starting in a three-man attack with Morente and Banda . Lecce started very aggressively, with a shot from Morente deflected for a corner by Vasquez . Genoa seemed to be under pressure from their opponents and struggled to build, but as the minutes passed, they gained possession without managing to make an impact.
Stanciu triesIn the 18th minute, Stanciu plays a nice pass to Martin on the opposite flank, but Falcone comes out to save. Vieira tactically changes some positions up front, centering Gronbaek and moving Stanciu to the left while Carboni stays wide on the right. Lecce mostly wins corners, but fails to convert them into opportunities. In the 32nd minute, Gronbaek advances quickly through the center, feeding Stanciu, who tries a diagonal shot but fires over. Two minutes later, the visitors counterattack with Gallo, who reaches the byline and crosses, but no teammates are ready.
Carboni's opportunityThe most dangerous chance of the first half came in the 42nd minute: Gronbaek shrugged off two opponents and passed to Frendrup in the box, who passed to Carboni. The Argentine shot toward the far post, but Falcone stretched and managed to deflect the ball into a corner. The lineups remained unchanged after the match, as did the rest of the game. Plenty of play, but little substance from either side. Di Francesco attempted a change, starting a flurry of substitutions with the introduction of Sottil and Dramé , but the scoreline remained unchanged.
Few emotions at MarassiThe only real thrill of the entire second half came in the 19th minute thanks to Martin , the Genoa winger who raced down the left and attempted a direct shot in the penalty area, but Falcone was alert and deflected the shot out for a corner. Shortly afterward, two smoke bombs from the North, while play was stopped, interrupted play to allow the firefighters to intervene, and it was perhaps the greatest thrill of a match that slipped away with the defenses clearly more attentive and skilled than the respective attacks. The introductions of Messias, Ekhator, Ellertsson , and Vitinha for Genoa and those of Kouassi, Pierret , and N'Dri for Lecce did not change the outcome of the match.
