In Pineto, Ascoli secured a spot in the Coppa Italia on penalties and secured their third derby.

Pineto, August 17, 2025 – Ascoli won on penalties and secured a spot in the next round of the Coppa Italia Serie C , which will feature the third derby of the season against Samb. Just last night, the Rossoblù managed to eliminate Vis Pesaro at home.
In Pineto , Picchio prevailed from eleven meters after the 2-2 draw at the end of the 90 minutes, with Juventus scoring thanks to temporary penalties from D'Uffizi and Corazza. There was some light and shade at the Mariani-Pavone. Ascoli played well and held the field well, displaying attacking and proactive football. However, superficiality and some serious errors in their build-up from the back became the factor that undid the previous good work. In his initial selections, Tomei confirmed the back four of Alagna, Curado, Nicoletti, and Guiebre. A new midfield pairing was initially chosen, with Milanese pairing up with Bando. Behind Corazza, the trio of Silipo, Gagliardi, and D'Uffizi were called upon to provide support. Tisci's Pineto took to the field to deploy their standard 4-3-3 formation. The changes clearly stem from a defense that was almost entirely rebuilt with the arrivals of center-backs Postiglione and Capomaggio. Up front, Bruzzaniti was the usual one to keep the Juventus defense on edge. The 500 Ascoli fans in the away section were impressive in the stands. The Bianconeri got off to a good start, developing good possession and forcing the Abruzzo team to defend in the early stages. Tomei's men consistently poured into the opposition half. Guiebre's relentless push down the left side effectively became a fifth additional attacker during possession. Ascoli took the lead with the first opportunity. D'Uffizi collected Corazza's pass, and he did well to slip past Capomaggio. Picchio's center of gravity was extremely high, exposing the Picchio defenders to a few undue risks. A turnover on the way out gave Pineto the equalizer, courtesy of a precise curling left-footed shot from Schirone following a quick link-up with Chakir. The two sides played it out, making for an exciting match. At the half-hour mark during the cooling-off period, a Mariani-Pavone light tower went out due to a temporary technical issue. After a few minutes of waiting, referee Spina allowed play to restart. Nothing significant happened until halftime. The second half was a similar story. Tomei was sent off for protesting in the opening minutes, but even without their coach, Ascoli regained the lead with a penalty. Guiebre did well to anticipate Postiglione in the penalty area, who ended up bringing him down. Corazza was relentless from the spot: the ball went to the right, and the keeper went to the left. The center forward broke a long drought that had last December. The home team wasn't having it and tried to respond immediately through Bruzzaniti. Vitale had to work hard to lift his free kick over the crossbar with his fingertips. The Bianconeri committed hara-kiri and also gifted the Abruzzo side a second equalizer. Vitale and his defenders, setting up a low play, proved suicidal, allowing Chakir to make it 2-2. Fatigue began to set in towards the end. In injury time, Bruzzaniti got away from Curado but missed the target. At the final whistle, penalties became inevitable.
The decisive penalty sequence. Lombardi (P) saved; Nicoletti (A) crossbar; Vigliotti (P) goal; Del Sole (A) goal; Bruzzaniti (P) saved; Curado (A) goal; Amadio (P) goal; Damiani (A) goal; Nebuloso (P) off.
