Inter, controversy behind: Lautaro-Thuram have cleared things up via chat

Inter, controversy behind: Lautaro-Thuram have cleared things up via chat

A message prolongs life, like the good old phone call. And it certainly prolongs Inter, reassures it, brings it back to the starting point in the most positive sense of the word. ThuLa has already started again. The coldness is overcome. Forgotten, no, it wouldn't be right to say so. But that like is now history and here the story needs to be written. Lautaro and Thuram agreed on one point: they want to win. And they want to do it with Inter. Then maybe they have different ways of expressing themselves, of showing their attachment, of dedicating themselves to the cause. But in the end, what else matters if not the purpose?

And so it is right to tell one aspect: the coldness, inevitable, that those words of Lautaro had caused within the Inter group has now disappeared. One detail makes the difference: in the “modern” locker rooms, phone calls - the good old phone calls mentioned above - have been largely replaced by messages. And the Inter group chat is back active as on normal days, in the weeks throughout the season. It is a way to keep everyone in touch during these days of vacation, but also to not lose the “work” done by coach Cristian Chivu on the last day in Charlotte, before the final farewell to the Club World Cup. That morning the coach was decisive, with the initiative and with the management of the same, to avoid as much as possible that the “Lautaro/like” case - let's call it that - dragged on longer than necessary. And in that meeting, the senators of the group, the Italians, were particularly active, and they took the floor.

Lautaro and Thuram explained themselves over a coffee. This too has been told. Going a little deeper, we can say that Thuram made his teammate understand that he did not appreciate the manner of such a generic accusation, which could have put the group in difficulty. And the captain, for his part, explained the reasons that pushed him to speak publicly, why he thought it was necessary.

From that coffee we moved forward. Or we went back, depending on how you want to see the story. The climate is good, the sadness of the World Cup is behind us, the desire to unplug has been satisfied but there is also curiosity about the retreat, about the work methods, about the commitments in general that await the players. The waste is not there. Or if there is, it is not visible. And it is already a success. Then, clearly, everything will depend on what happens when things resume. But the signs are going in the right direction, Chivu has everything to be able to think that from the gathering onwards the focus will be on the future, not on what happened.

Let's call it ThuLa 2.0, if you like. A couple that after the clarification is ready to come back stronger than before. Because Bonny is fine, an investment of 24 million euros but still a young man who needs to be verified at high levels. Pio Esposito is fine, who has already shown in the US what he is made of. But Chivu imagines his Inter with Thuram and Lautaro up front, because around Europe there aren't many couples with their potential. Maybe the new coach will also study new movements for the two, also to stimulate their third season together. But the best moments of Inter in the last two years have always been seen with a full ThuLa. And not with the intermittent one of 2025, in truth more due to the Frenchman than the Argentine. In short, we need to like Inter and the new course. On facts, more than words. And we also need to follow up on the statements. Maybe by choosing more direct than indirect channels. This was pointed out to Lautaro, even by the managers themselves. But beyond the coldness, the intentions remain. The methods can be discussed, but not the objectives. Thuram and Lautaro recognized themselves in this, the two of them and the entire core group of Inter. Long live the locker room chat, then. Long live the restart, even the one off the pitch.
