Prato, 12 June 2025 - Prato and Australia are thousands of kilometres apart, but there is no shortage of common ground. Especially in sports: just think of Christian Vieri, who as a teenager returned to Santa Lucia from the “Land of Kangaroos” (where his family had already settled). Or Alessandro Diamanti, who coaches the youth teams of Melbourne City. This time, however, the common thread concerns rugby: the Cavalieri Union have signed a collaboration agreement with the Iron Armour Academy, an “Aussie” sports organisation, which will come to life next autumn. Next October, the coaches and other members of the Iron Armour will arrive in Montemurlo, where they will stay for about ten days. And during this period, a series of activities will take place that will include friendly matches with the U16 and U18 teams of the Cavalieri Union Rugby, joint training sessions and specific interventions for the coaches. The agreement also includes the possibility for the players and coaches of the Cavalieri to travel to Australia to participate in training courses at the Iron Armour. The agreement was reached in the last few hours by the Prato management and that of the Iron Armour, with the former Cavalieri rugby player Rome Nifo initially acting as an intermediary. “This international exchange is designed to promote the personal and professional development of all participants, while strengthening the bonds of friendship between the two nations. We are thrilled to undertake this collaboration with the Iron Armour Academy. It is an extraordinary opportunity for our boys to grow by interacting with a sporting culture of excellence such as that of Australia,” commented the sporting director Francesco Fusi, “a land that has written indelible pages in the history of rugby. I would like to sincerely thank Rome who put us in contact with the management structure of the Academy and made it all possible.”
