Luna Rossa chooses the CVR Italia pennant for the America's Cup.

Goodbye Sicily, forward Naples. Luna Rossa lowers the pennant of the Circolo della Vela Sicilia and raises that of the Circolo della Vela e del Remo Italia of Naples, which has and will continue to launch the challenge for the 38th America's Cup on behalf of the Italian team. This decision, according to a statement, is part of the team's strategic vision, which, since its inception in 1997, has never sought to be tied to a single yacht club, favoring rotation among several important clubs in our country.
The boss speaks
"For the first time in its 176-year history, the America's Cup is being held in Italy, in Naples," says Patrizio Bertelli, president of Luna Rossa. "For this reason, after three consecutive editions in collaboration with the Circolo della Vela Sicilia, it seemed natural to us to be represented by a Yacht Club that, in addition to enjoying an extraordinary international reputation, also has deep ties to the city." The patron then recalled the successes achieved with the Circolo della Vela Sicilia, such as the 2021 Prada Cup in Auckland and the Youth and Women America's Cups in Barcelona.
"Italia's sporting history, combined with a deep culture of the sea and sailing, represents an added value for our team as it prepares to race in the waters of the Gulf of Naples," added team director Max Sirena.
CVR Italia President Roberto Mottola di Amato expressed his "proud and honored" sentiment. "The bond between the Circolo del Remo e della Vela Italia and the city of Naples is ancient and inseparable, dating back to 1889, as is our commitment to promoting sailing excellence worldwide. Seeing our pennant aboard such an iconic vessel is a source of great pride and responsibility." "This collaboration," he added, "also represents an extraordinary opportunity to inspire our young students and athletes, who will be able to experience firsthand the excitement and commitment of competing at their club's highest levels, fueling their passion and dreams."
