Nations League: Portugal wins, Spain beaten on penalties

Portugal beat Spain in the penalties and thus won the Nations League in Munich. Ruben Neves scored the decisive penalty that allowed the Portuguese team to beat the title holders 5-3 from penalty after the 2-2 draw in the 90th and 120th minutes. Portugal had gone behind twice in the half regulations, for the goals in the first half by Zubimendi and Oyarzabal but managed to recover first with Nuno Mendes (1-1) and in the second half with Cristiano Ronaldo, at his 138th goal in national team. CR7 went out at the end due to cramps but raised his new trophy after the one won in 2019, in his first edition. Lamine Yamal, the long-awaited protagonist among the Spanish, had less of an impact than expected, thus leaving the stage for the 40-year-old Portuguese champion.
