Neuer attacks Donnarumma for Musiala's injury: "He made a mistake, he shouldn't have gone out like that"

The good news for Jamal Musiala is that the injury he suffered during PSG-Bayern Munich at the Club World Cup is less serious than it first appeared. In the clash with Donnarumma , the 22-year-old German striker suffered a fractured fibula in his left leg and damaged ligaments. Translated into numbers, this means a stoppage of between four and five months. From the dynamics of the clash, a much more serious injury was feared and consequently a longer absence. Musiala, on the other hand, could see the pitch again before the end of the year.

Musiala's injury

The clash between Musiala and Donnarumma occurred in the first half of the quarter-final between PSG and Bayern, which the French ultimately won 2-0. Musiala remained on the ground screaming in pain, and was carried out on a stretcher while Donnarumma burst into tears: “All my prayers and best wishes are for you, Jamal Musiala,” the Italian goalkeeper later wrote on social media. There were many messages of support for the Bayern player, including one from Neymar : “I hope you get better soon and can shine again soon, football needs your talent.”

Neuer's accusation against Donnarumma

Donnarumma's intervention right or wrong? Neuer was quite harsh towards the national team's number 1 at the end of the match: "He accepted the risk of hurting his opponent. In that situation he shouldn't have gone out in that way, it was a risk. I went to Donnarumma and asked him why he didn't go to Jamal. For me it's a question of respect, getting close and wishing him all the best. Then he did it. I honestly would have reacted differently", said the Bayern goalkeeper.

Courtois defends Donnarumma

Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois sided with Donnarumma: “It seems excessive to me to blame Donnarumma for Musiala's injury. It was just bad luck, goalkeepers go for the ball just like attackers never back down when they come at you”.
