Olympique Lyonnais restarts with a woman, Kang president

American businesswoman Michele Kang has been named president of Olympique Lyonnais, replacing John Textor who has resigned from his position at OL and the club's board of directors, the French club announced. "Michele Kang is the ideal choice to lead OL into the next phase and I have full confidence in her and OL, who will emerge stronger under her leadership," said Textor, quoted in a statement from the club, which was relegated to Ligue 2 by the "Direction nationale du contrôle de gestion" (DNCG) on June 24. Textor remains the club's owner.
At the age of 66, Mrs Kang, former president and owner of OL Lyonnes (formerly OL Feminine), has also been appointed CEO of Eagle Football Group (formerly OL Group) which oversees all the activities of the club of which she has been part since September 2023. She "will play an active role in supporting the executive management of Olympique Lyonnais, in particular by leading the club's appeal procedure with the Direction nationale du contrôle de gestion", underlines the OL which hopes, thanks to this change of direction, to influence the position of the financial controller of French football.
