Pradè has chosen for everyone: resignation
Florence, November 2, 2025 – After 511 games, Daniele Pradé's second Fiorentina adventure has come to an end (voluntarily). Early yesterday morning, the now-former sporting director informed president Rocco Commisso and general manager Ferrari of his intention to resign, without any second thoughts. This move was met with regret, especially given the strong bond he had developed with the entire Commisso family, with Rocco always having kind words for Pradé in difficult times—remember Covid?—and always having a heartfelt message for him personally. "With great respect and affection, we wish Daniele all the best for his future," Rocco and his wife, Catherine, wrote in the statement officially announcing the former sporting director's decision.
After the meeting with the management, the team awaited their arrival for the morning session, and shortly before noon, the team and staff were informed of Pradé's decision, in a locker room where absolute silence reigned. Perhaps no one expected such a move, but after Pradé left, the players, probably with a hint of emotion, wanted to show their support, so much so that they all went to the manager's office on the first floor of the pavilion housing the first team. It was at that moment that Pradé the man came out in all his frankness , urging the group to react immediately and show their determination and desire for redemption against Lecce. A step back precisely to make the group responsible.
It was no surprise that the atmosphere around the sporting director was tense. After the match against AC Milan on October 19th, he himself had taken responsibility for such a poor start to the season and was even considering resigning. Perhaps the umpteenth fierce protest from the fans, with late-night banners, actually accelerated a decision that had already been on the table for some time. Pradé had been considering leaving his post for some time, taking full responsibility for Fiorentina's difficulties, even though the constant expressions of esteem and trust from the United States had encouraged him to stay. But evidently, the atmosphere Pradé perceived around him had become oppressive. As mentioned, he was held primarily responsible by the fans for what was happening to a team that, until now, has never demonstrated the quality it was believed to be at the start of the season.
These are days of anger and widespread protest around Fiorentina. The Tramontana wind descending from the hills of Fiesole, behind what remains of the Curva, blows strongly toward the greatest fear that no one dares to express, but which everyone fears. This is also why Pradé has chosen to accelerate the process after a night of passion and torment. The fans currently have the sporting director at the top of the list of discontent , but they await answers on all fronts and for all players from the owners. We are likely only at the beginning.
