Sky Sport Italia claim Roma have reached an agreement with Brighton and Hove Albion to sign Evan Ferguson on loan with an option to buy for €38m.
The negotiations have been dragging on for a while and there was a significant difference between the proposal to sign him for €30m and the asking price of closer to €40m.
Roma figures with Brighton for Ferguson
According to Gianluca Di Marzio , the final fee between loan and option to buy at the end of the season will reach somewhere between €35m and €40m, probably evening out including add-ons at around €38m.
Now Roma need to work out a few contractual issues and personal terms with the Republic of Ireland international, but that should not be too tough to secure.
The 20-year-old centre-forward spent the last six months on loan at West Ham United, but has been at Brighton since 2021.
He had already been targeted by coach Gian Piero Gasperini for Atalanta and the interest continued once the tactician took over at Roma instead.
