ResegUp 2025, Kibet and Conti sign record victories

Lecco, 7 June 2025 – The 14th Resegup will be archived as the edition of record victories, those of the Kenyan Kevin Kibet and the Milanese Fabiola Conti , who pulverized the previous records in the men's and women's rankings.
Kibet, representative of the Pegarun team, impressed with an extraordinary descent that allowed him to take the lead after passing at the top of the Resegone , overtaking the champion and compatriot Paul Machoka .

Kibet crossed the finish line in Piazza Garibaldi with a time of 2h13'24” , breaking the previous record set by Mattia Gianola in 2023 (2h15'00”). Equally stratospheric was the performance of Fabiola Conti (Mud&Snow), who dominated from start to finish, finishing in 2h40'33 ”.

The competition was attended by 1250 athletes, exceeding the eve forecast of 1200 competitors thanks to the distribution of an extra number of bibs for guests and sponsors. Among them also Mauro Gattinoni mayor of Lecco.
The confirmed route proposed the fascinating start and finish from the central Piazza Garibaldi, for a 24 km route and 1800 metres of altitude difference, with the passage to the suggestive Rifugio Azzoni on the top of the Resegone.

The men's race was a Kenyan domination, with a close battle between Kibet and Machoka, the latter taking the lead on the climb and arriving first at the summit with an unprecedented time of 1h14'19”, beating Kibet by over five minutes.
However, Kibet recovered in the final descent, winning with a margin of 19”11. Third place was contested by Andrea Rota (Osa Valmadrera/Salomon) and Danilo Brambilla (Falchi Lecco) from Lecco: Rota managed to prevail in 2h23'08”, while Brambilla finished fourth.
Completing the top ten are Matteo Porro (4th), Alessio Mainetti (6th), Filippo Curtoni (7th), Stefano Tavola (8th), Marco Zanga (9th) and Dario Rigonelli (10th).

In the women's field, Fabiola Conti distanced her opponents already on the climb, reaching the Rifugio Azzoni with 1h31'57” and a lead of 5'19” over Elisa Desco (Team Scarpa and winner of the 2018 and 2024 editions), who qualified in second place with 2h46'57”.
Third place went to Martina Bilora from Lecco (New Balance), stopping the clock at 2h50'50”. The 14th Resegup thus closed under the sign of records and participation, confirming once again the charm and intensity of one of the most beloved mountain running races.
The curiositiesAlso this year the ResegUp has given prizes to the protagonists beyond the rankings. For example to the two youngest registered in the race: Oscar Pomoni , class of 2007, and Caterina Fezzi , class of 2005. The veterans instead were Giovanni Biffi , class of 1950, and Enrica Paredi , class of 1960.
