Running: The Palio dei Rioni of Quarrata Relay Race Goes to Lupa

Quarrata, July 19, 2025 – The Lupa district won the Palio dei Rioni di Quarrata relay race, held Saturday evening in a packed Piazza Risorgimento. The yellow-greens dominated the race from the start, led by twins Jacopo and Niccolò Niccolai, who set the first and third fastest individual times, respectively. Behind them, a thrilling duel for second place between Pantera and Drago, with the former winning by just a few hundredths of a second. Puma, Istrice, Leone, Orso, and Giraffa followed.

The 2025 Palio marked a generational shift, especially among women: after eight editions, Stefania Bargiacchi's reign ended, surpassed by sixteen-year-old Marta Sabatini, the new queen of the race with a time of 4'57". City authorities and a warm crowd were present at the event. and the awards ceremony will be held on Wednesday 23 July in Piazza Risorgimento, with street food and a DJ set from 7 pm.
