Matchday one and the first referee appointments: the 2025-2026 Serie A season kicks off with two early matches scheduled for Saturday, August 23. At 6:30 PM, Italian champions Napoli will take to the field against newly promoted Sassuolo at the Mapei Stadium in Reggio Emilia. Giovanni Ayroldi of Molfetta will referee the match, with Lo Cicero and Yoshikawa as assistants, Rapuano as fourth official, and Di Bello and Aureliano as VAR referees. Also at 6:30 PM is Genoa vs. Lecce, which has been assigned to Davide Massa of Imperia.

Two more matches are scheduled for Saturday, both kicking off at 8:45 PM: AC Milan vs. Cremonese (Collu Stadium, Cagliari) and Roma vs. Bologna (Zufferli Stadium, Udine). The same schedule will apply for Sunday, with two matches at 6:30 PM: Cagliari vs. Fiorentina (Sozza Stadium, Seregno) and Como vs. Lazio (Manganiello Stadium, Pinerolo). Atalanta vs. Pisa (Arena, Torre del Greco) and Juventus vs. Parma (Marcenaro Stadium, Genoa) will be played at 8:45 PM. Monday the 25th will close the first day of the championship with Udinese vs. Verona (Tremolada Stadium, Monza), kicking off at 6:30 PM, and Inter vs. Torino (La Penna Stadium, Rome) at 8:45 PM.
