Serie D. Gille, Camara, Romano, Siciliano, De Filippis, and Habachi: the new Ischia Calcio team is taking shape.

Serie D. Gille, Camara, Romano, Siciliano, De Filippis, and Habachi: the new Ischia Calcio team is taking shape.

A series of additions to strengthen the squad, Ischia Calcio is moving forward in the transfer market and closing several incoming deals. General Manager Marco Ferrante, with the approval of the club and the coaching staff, has closed five deals, bringing the team significant additions in every department.

Gille, muscle and quality for the Gialloblu midfield. The club has officially announced the signing of Thomas Gille, born in 2002 and originally from Guadeloupe (French Antilles). Standing 1.81 meters tall, he boasts strong physical and technical skills that make him an interesting prospect. At twenty-three years old, Gille arrived in Italy at a young age, coming through the youth academy of FC Messina, where he also made his Serie D (Group I) debut in the 2019/2020 season. The following year, he played for Fasano (Group H), where—as an under-18—he made 12 appearances, displaying good dynamism and positional awareness.

He subsequently played for the Aosta Valley club PDHAE (Group A) before gaining experience in France, playing for FC Versailles's B team. Upon returning to Italy, he played for Chieri and Magenta, making 13 appearances in Group B of Serie D. Last season, starting in January, he played for Ispra Calcio, in the Lombardy Eccellenza league. A young player, but already experienced in Serie D and Eccellenza, he arrives in the Gialloblù to invigorate a midfield in need of reinforcements.

Camara, a new defender for Martino Papa Bamory. Camara, a dual national (Mali and Senegal), born in 2001, right-footed, stands 1.88 meters tall and has previously played several matches as a right back. In January 2024, he moved to Canicattì (Serie D, Group I) after stints in Fasano (Serie D, Group H) and Messina (Serie D, Group I). Overall, Camara has made 83 appearances in the fourth national division, scoring nine goals, including one in a play-off match (2022, playing for the Città della Selva), making him a standout and among the best under-21s in the group. A defender with a genuine eye for goal, Camara also had a stint in Spain with Real Balompédica Linense (Primers Federacion, Spain's third tier).

The powerful Malian defender spent his last season with Luese Cristo Alessandria (Piedmontese Excellence), enjoying a top-flight season. "I'm happy to wear the Ischia jersey," says Camara. "I can't wait to discover the island. I'm a friend of Battista, who was there last season. He spoke highly of the atmosphere, and when director Ferrante contacted me, I gladly accepted. I'll give it my all to bring joy to the club and the fans."

Romano, a versatile striker for the islanders. Vincenzo Romano, born in 2001, 1.82 meters tall, originally from Agropoli, was a key figure in the Calabrian Eccellenza league last season, scoring 20 goals for Bocale Calcio. Powerful yet agile, capable of playing both centrally and out wide, the new Gialloblù striker began his career in the Salernitana youth academy. His first experience was with a senior team at Polisportiva Santa Maria. He then spent two key seasons with Sangiustese (Serie D Group F). Romano returned to Cilento with the Sammaritana team (Group I), where he made 40 appearances, scoring 5 goals and providing numerous assists.

In the 2022/23 season, Romano joined Sammaurese (Serie D Group D) in Romagna, before moving to Sicily to play for Città di Sant'Agata (Group I) in the first transfer window. His last three stints were in Calabria: Gioiese, Reggio-Ravagnese, and Bocale, where he finally found his calling. "I thank director Ferrante and coach Martino for their trust," were the Gialloblù striker's first words. "They really wanted me, and here I am. I turned down some tempting offers to get back into Serie D in a stimulating club like Ischia, which has everything it takes to do well."

Siciliano, an experienced central defender. Simone Siciliano, born in 1999 in Naples, is 1.90 meters tall and primarily plays with his left foot. Over the past two seasons, he has played in Serie D for Nocerina (starting in the Coppa Italia match against Ischia last November at the San Francesco stadium) and Matelica. The Neapolitan defender has made 81 Serie D appearances across four different groups. After playing for Spezia's youth teams, Simone Siciliano played two Primavera championships for Salernitana and Avellino.

He also played in the fourth national division with Sarnese, Agropoli, and Sangiustese before moving to Santa Maria Capua Vetere to play for Gladiator (2020/21) and then to Brindisi, where he wore the captain's armband at 22. An injury kept him out for half a season. Two years ago, Siciliano moved to Orvietana, where he stayed for two seasons. In September, he signed for Nocerina, and finally, in January 2025, he moved to Matelica, in the Marche region. "I'm happy and pleased to have signed for Ischia, a major club," says Siciliano. "I'm ready for this adventure and can't wait to get started and perform well straight away."

De Filippis, a versatile attacker. Manuel De Filippis, born in 2004 in Alatri (Frosinone), is a true versatile attacking player, able to play as a winger or behind the central striker, as well as an attacking midfielder or attacking midfielder in a variety of systems. The Gialloblu's new signing came through the Lazio youth ranks, then moved to Salernitana, where he played in the Allievi Professionisti and Primavera leagues. In the summer of 2002, De Filippis had his first experience abroad, in Spain, wearing the Numancia Juvenil A jersey. In the 2023/24 season, the striker signed for Birkirkara FC, a Maltese club coached by Tedesco, a top-flight club, where he stood out with good play, assists, and goals, appearing in the UEFA Conference League preliminary round in Maribor.

Last season, he moved to Gzira United, also in the Maltese league. With the Maltese Amaranth, De Filippis won the Youth Premier League top scorer title with 15 goals. The new Gialloblu striker returns to Italy after four seasons abroad, responding positively to the call of General Manager Ferrante. "I'm returning to my country after four years and I'm thrilled," De Filippis said. "My experiences abroad have certainly shaped me. I'm proud to wear the Ischia jersey, which has a rich footballing history behind it. I'm confident we'll do well because we have a management team of high professional and human value who will give us the right guidance to succeed."

Achraf Habachi, 30-goal coach in Serie D for the Ischian attack. An attacking midfielder born in 2002 in Fiorenzuola (Piacenza) to Moroccan parents, Habachi began his career in the youth academy of Vigor Carpineto. In January 2021, he moved to Salsomaggiore (Serie D), where he remained for two seasons. Last season, after a brief stint at Legnano, he moved to Castrovillari (Eccellenza), scoring 11 goals, a key contribution to the historic Calabrian club's continued success in the league.

Habachi has made 30 appearances in Serie D. “I was happy to accept this new challenge at Ischia, a club that needs no introduction,” says Achraf. “I will give my all to perform well and contribute to the success of my new team.”

Ferrante is rebuilding the squad, significantly thinned at the end of June due to numerous contract expirations, to establish a competitive base for the new season. After confirming the Isola group—last year's core—the management has now finalized the first official signings ahead of the pre-season training camp, which will take place in Subiaco. Further incoming negotiations are expected in the coming days to complete the roster, but in the meantime, the organizational machine is in motion.

While awaiting official training camp dates and details regarding the season ticket campaign, which will be crucial to ensuring the continuity of the sporting and corporate project, Ischia Calcio has already begun taking important steps on the technical and administrative front. Meanwhile, the registration deadline for the championship expired on Thursday: the island club submitted its application on time, demonstrating promptness and punctuality, even in terms of bureaucracy. The ball is now in the Covisod's court, the body responsible for reviewing registration applications, which will analyze the documentation received in the coming days and decide on the eligibility of the various teams. Only then will it be possible to proceed with the official composition of the groups for the new Serie D, expected in the coming weeks. In the meantime, Ischia is warming up its engines.
