Sports on TV: Eurosport and Sky, it's divorce

Sports on TV: Eurosport and Sky, it's divorce

Sky and Eurosport are parting ways. From Tuesday 1 July, the Eurosport 1 and Eurosport 2 channels will be switched off on numbers 210 and 211 of the Sky bouquet: the agreement between the two American telecommunications giants, Comcast and Warner Bros, has not been renewed. They will be replaced respectively by Sky Sport Legend, focused on the important moments in the history of sport, and Sky Sport Mix, with a selection of the main sporting events of the summer.

The two Eurosport channels will still be visible on the group's platform, Discovery, and in streaming on Dazn and TimVision.

For Sky subscribers, this is not good news considering the quality of the Warner group's channels' schedules and the possession of important and especially exclusive rights such as in tennis with the Australian Open and Roland Garros. For Eurosport, however, a considerable drop in ratings is expected given that many fans watched the two channels on Sky.
