Tour de Suisse 2025: the seventh stage with altimetry

Neuhausen am Rheinfall, 21 June 2025 – The 2025 Tour of Switzerland is coming to a close with the final two decisive stages between Saturday and Sunday. In the meantime, one of the favourites prevailed in the only stage dedicated to sprinters, namely Jordi Meeus , who beat the Italian Davide Ballerini and the British Lewis Askey in the sprint in the sixth stage of the Swiss tour . The breakaway was caught one kilometre from the finish line, then the sprint on a narrow, semi-curved road rewarded the Belgian, who was able to start at the right time. Nothing happened in terms of the general classification. Kevin Vauquelin is still the leader with 29 seconds on Julian Alaphilippe and 39 on Joao Almeida , while Oscar Onley is fourth at 1'21” and the decisive laps could be in the seventh stage scheduled for Saturday. Two short but tough climbs in the finale will allow for a battle between the contenders for the yellow jersey.

Path

The seventh stage of the Tour of Switzerland is a long one, probably crucial for the general classification. From Neuhausen am Rheinfall to Emmetten , 207 kilometers long and with an uphill finish . The stage alternates GPMs with flat or false flat sections, except in the final part with the climb towards the finish. The first 100 kilometers are without any major difficulties, going up and down at around 600 meters, but the first real obstacle is the GPM of Schwandl, 3 kilometers long with an average gradient of 8.9%. Once you reach the top, you don't go down, but instead you continue to climb towards the intermediate sprint at kilometer 125, which precedes a descent of about 15 kilometers that leads to the valley floor that leads to Emmetten. In the last section, there are two tough climbs. First, the Burgenstock, 5.5 kilometers long and with peaks of 23% , then the final GPM towards Emmetten, 3.9 kilometers long at 8.3% and maximums of 18%. Sprinters will be needed.

Favorites

Tough stage, but not with long climbs. Alaphilippe could be rewarded by the morphology of the route, compared to Almeida , who prefers more grand tour GPMs, and Vauquelin can also try to defend himself from the attacks of his rivals. Watch out from behind, Onley is 1'21" behind and could try to shuffle the cards, together with Felix Gall , one of the big favorites but 2'20" behind. Both should attack from far away. For the stage victory, also watch out for Castrillo, Riccitello and Van Wilder .

TV schedules

The seventh stage of the Tour of Switzerland will take place today, Saturday 21 June, with a start time of 11.57 and an expected arrival time of around 16.30/17. Live coverage on Eurosport 1 , Sky channel 210, starting at 14.50. Streaming on Sky Go, Discovery Plus and Dazn . Commentary by Luca Gregorio and Riccardo Magrini.
